Aside from Deadpool 2’s final trailer, Marvel fans recently had a peek at a new poster for the film.
Comic artist Rob Liefeld, the originator of Deadpool, has joined forces with movie ticket company Fandango and cover illustrator Mike Capprotti to create a visual throwback to the series’ humble beginnings.
The new artwork, which will be distributed to pre-sale ticket buyers, is a remake of the 1991 New Mutants #98 comic book cover page, where ‘Deadpool’ made his first appearance.
“The cover to New Mutants #98 has become an iconic image, and it is the comic that introduced ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Domino’ to the world,” Liefeld said.
The reprised poster reimagines the characters to resemble the actors who portray them in Deadpool 2.
“New Mutants #98 has become a key image in the comic book pantheon,” said Liefeld. “So I thought it would be great to pay homage with the movie cast… and I gotta be honest, man—it turned out better than I imagined!”
