NSFW: ‘Tampon’ Macarons Are Here To Plug Away Your Bloody Bad Days

When it comes to fulfilling cravings during the time of the month, bespoke macaron maker Ohlala certainly hits the sweet spot. The London-based store has recently plugged a partnership with charity Bloody Good Period to launch tampon-inspired macarons that look bloody realistic.

The ‘Bloody Good’ macarons are handcrafted and made with ethically-sourced ingredients. A choice of vanilla, raspberry, or rose buttercream is piped into white almond shells, which are then finished with blue raspberry-flavored “strings.”

At £24.50 (US$34.50) a purchase, you’ll receive eight macarons in limited edition “tampon” designs.

Don’t assume these desserts are just for the vampires, though. For every box purchased, Ohlala will donate £10 (US$14)—enough to fund a month’s worth of menstrual supplies—to Bloody Good Period.

“Period poverty is bloody disgrace,” said Meredith O’Shaughnessy, founder at Ohlala. “It’s truly shameful that one in 10 women in the UK can’t afford sanitary protection each month.”

“Ohlala is about supporting women through all stages of their lives and we are delighted to create a fun and engaging way that everyone can contribute to the brilliant work that Bloody Good Period does, whilst reducing the stigma of periods for everyone.”

More often than not, it’s perfectly okay to go with the flow and treat yourself.
