Advice for First Album Cover
TLDR; My friend has an album releasing soon and asked me to do the album cover for him by tomorrow. I’ve never done anything like this before. Made this (https://imgur.com/gallery/aUysWO3) in 20 minutes and would like suggestions to improve it.
So my friend is working on releasing his first rap album, titled F33LINGS. From the tracks I’ve heard, it’s deep, dark, sad, and meaningful. He’s really letting people into his life with this. I had heard him talking about it a few weeks ago and it sounded like he was pushing time constraints to get it out. I thought he was all ready to go and release it either tomorrow or the day after but he came to me TODAY and asked me to design an album cover for him. He knows I do some graphic work, but I have absolutely no experience in using real photos of people. I only agreed because I was up for the fun challenge, and how can you say no to a friend who’s already rushing to get this thing out. He told me he wanted blacks and greys and sent me a close up of his face he’s insisting on using. I whipped this (https://imgur.com/gallery/aUysWO3) up in about 20 minutes. He told me he wants it tomorrow so I figured I’d draft something quick and ask here for more input since I’ve never done anything like this before. As you can see, I slightly tinted his face blue. I think it looks decent. I’m not trying to overhaul anything. I just want some suggestions for how to improve this. I was thinking about making the eyes look red like they were crying but as I’ve never done this before I feel like I’d just make it goofy. Thanks in advance for the help!
Also, this is my first post in this subreddit. Look forward to learning from all of you!
