Swedish DJ Avicii, born Tim Bergling, possibly did not pass from acute pancreatitis as most had suspected; his family members have released a new statement hinting suicide.
The family described the electronic dance music producer, who was found dead in his hotel room in Oman, as a “fragile artistic soul.”
Obtained by BuzzFeed News, this statement, which follows the family’s first several days ago, reads, “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.”
“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most: music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
In a documentary released just months ago that shed some light on Bergling’s private life, the DJ revealed that he detested being in the limelight; and yet, the Grammy nominee could not shake the attention off.
He also chillingly divulged that he was “going to die… I expected support… considering everything I have been through. I have been very open with everyone I work with and everyone who knows me… [they know] that I’ve had anxiety and that I have tried.”
Mirroring his sentiments, the musician’s family members elaborated, “Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.”
In a heartbreaking manner, they concluded, “Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you. Your family.”
It's been about 1 & 1/2 year since I wrote my goodbye letter and took the decision to stop touring. Always do what you feel is necessary for your well being. – The documentary of a period of my life that was intense, joyful, hurtful, stressful and filled with so many memories.
