Smartphone Transforms Into High Image Quality, Mirrorless Camera
While China-based Cinematic International Company Limited continues to work on its universal adapter that lets you mount almost any camera lens onto your smartphone, another Chinese manufacturer has quietly teased a camera module to turn your device into a mirrorless camera.
In an under-the-radar online move, Yongnuo the Chinese brand known for producing replica lenses and camera accessories introduced its ‘YN43’ camera module, which transforms a smartphone into a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera. The Micro Four Thirds system supports high image quality for compact, interchangeable lens-type cameras.
Photo Rumors first spotted the official product images on Yongnuo’s website. The visuals feature the Micro Four Thirds sensor and a Canon EF-S mount. There’s even a free iOS app on the App Store accompanied by iPhone screenshots.
Based on the product’s photos, the smartphone sits on the module’s rear that has an expandable clip to hold it in place. The phone is further supported by the module’s padding that shields the phone from scratches.
According to PetaPixel, attaching the module and connecting via Wi-Fi transforms your smartphone into a live-viewing screen and brains of the camera operations.
Further details such as pricing and availability have yet to be announced, so stay tuned.
