Take A Look At Sketches Of Meghan Markle’s Givenchy & Stella McCartney Dresses

One of the highly anticipated moments of the Royal Wedding was Meghan Markle’s wedding dress.

People were wondering how it would looked like and the secret was finally revealed when Markle stepped out of the car, dressed in Givenchy’s gown in white.

Markle’s dress features a bateau neckline and is designed by the first female artistic director of Givenchy, Claire Waight Keller. Kensington Palace has also released initial sketches of the dress done by the British designer. The sketch of Markle’s veil, which is also designed by Keller, features “the distinctive flora of all 53 Commonwealth countries united in one spectacular floral composition.”

The Duchess of Sussex met Keller in early 2018 to design the dress of her dreams. The Palace mentioned that the bride “wanted to highlight the success of a leading British talent who has now served as the creative head of three globally influential fashion houses—Pringle of Scotland, Chloé, and now Givenchy.”

It is also worth mentioning that hundreds of hours were taken to create each floral pattern of Markle’s veil, and the dressmakers had to wash their hands every half hour to ensure that the veil did not have any dirt on it.

In the end, the dress has a minimalist aesthetic, and it also reflects the brand’s “refined and meticulous traditions,” having only six seams and three-quarter length sleeves.

Markle opted for another female British designer Stella McCarney for her second wedding dress for a reception.

McCartney told WWD that she is proud to be chosen by the Duchess of Sussex to design the evening gown for her. She said it was “one of the most humbling moments” of her career and is proud of her team in creating the dress for the bride.

The second dress features a high halter neckline with an open back without any lace or embellishments. She paired the dress with Princess Diana’s aquamarine ring.
