Target’s ‘Made By Design’ Label Goes Head-To-Head With Affordable IKEA Homeware

Target is vying to beat IKEA and MUJI at their own game with minimalist home products you won’t feel a pinch from getting.

The discount retailer has announced Made By Design, its new home brand that it calls “Insta-worthy” and yet “unbelievably affordable.” The line of over 750 products spanning bedding to kitchenware and storage units range between US$1 and US$260 apiece.

It’s also available all year round, with most items costing no more than US$30.

“This line is filled with beautiful, purposeful pieces that our guests can count on for superior quality, style and value season after season,” said Mark Triton, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Target.

Made By Design’s clean, simple products aren’t just conversational pieces, they’re rife with mini design details other brands have seemingly neglected. For instance, the bathroom towels come with loops to drape over wall hooks so they won’t fall on the wet floor. Every piece of the brand’s tableware is also made to be stacked in a cupboard.

“But the best part, if you ask us? The unexpected design touches that make little household headaches magically disappear,” described Target.

Although built for durability, the pieces are supplemented with a one-year guarantee return policy, just like all other products belonging to Target.
