Sesame Street Yourself Uses Augmented Reality to Bring Elmo and Friends to Life

Built with Apple’s ARKit 3, Yourself allows younger learners (or anyone else) to transform themselves into characters from the show that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

One of the best features is the dress-up option. Just look into the camera and your head will be transformed into or another character. You can then dress up with fun costumes, hats, glasses and more.

With the AR technology, the app will recognize facial features and movements, much like Apple’s own Animoji and Memoji.

Kids can also wear their masks and join in a song with other Sesame Street characters. The interactive song can be recorded so kids can replay the fun.

The app also offers multiplayer games so up to three people can wear and mask and play.

Sesame Street Yourself is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

Dress-up play, one game, two songs, and masks of three friends are free. Additional content and characters can be unlocked with in-app purchases.

Developer Weyo is promising to add new content to the app regularly.

There are no advertisements in the app and all augmented reality processing is done on the device.
