Artifact’s New ‘Build Your Legend’ Update Is Now Live

After swarm of comments and ‘constructive' feedback from Artifact players about the lack of progression in the game, the new ‘ Your Legend' update is now , and seems to answer all requests.

The update brings skill rating, leveling systems, balance updates and most importantly, a strong indication that Valve has changed their stance on the balance in the game. Previously, the official respond was to have card stats and effects to remain static, but now they are starting to roll in balance updates.

It is one thing to ask for a skill or level rating system but another to implement an adequate one. As such, Valve has introduced independent skill raitings for constructed and draft games.

Player skill ratings will range from 1-75, with every player starting at Skill Rating 1 every season. Over each season, a player can raise their rating with every victory they get against an opponent with a higher Skill Rating than them.

During a season, once you've earned a skill rating, you'll never lose it. In a few months, a new season will begin, and ratings will reset giving you a fresh opportunity to prove your skill.

Aside from the skill rating system, an account leveling system has also been implemented by rewarding players XP after every matchmade game, that can be used to level up and unlock more content. By leveling up, the system will reward players with incentives such as a set number of tickets and packs (up to fifteen of each this season), as well as level icons as bragging rights upon reaching certain tiers.

To enhance the leveling experience, the update also brings a weekly XP bonus quest for players who win three games in a week. Whether you want to draft, play a Call to Arms game, or try out a new constructed deck doesn't matter any win in a matchmade game will move you closer to the bonus.

And that's not all, as additional XP can be earned depending on your playstyle. Did you fully equip all of your heroes? Did you win without healing any single unit? The playstyle award system offers variety of bonuses or ‘quests' for players to achieve, and you can complete up to three each match.

In regards to balance changes, Valve said, “We will be taking an incremental approach to balancing, with the primary goal being to improve the gameplay quality over time”.
