On the Other Side of Change

You will always find the results you want on the other side of the changes you need to make to have them. If what you were doing now would produce the results you want, there would be no gap between your results and your goals. If the strategy you are employing were working, you’d see the results, provided you are consistently executing.

To have whatever results it is that you want, you first must be willing to accept that what you are doing now is not working, or at least not well enough. Being aware and accepting that you need to stop doing what isn’t working and do something different is the first step in getting new and better results. Letting go of the beliefs you cling to isn’t easy, but there is no case where you can pick up something new without setting down what you are holding on too tightly now.

If the actions you are taking now could give you the result you want, you’d have it now. Without being willing to give up what you want to do, what you like to do, what you are comfortable doing, you will not achieve any outcome better than the one you are already producing. The results you want are going to require that you take new actions, even if that new action means massively increasing what you are doing. The larger the goals, the more effort will be necessary to achieve it, and the more consistently will be required.

Some people are producing the results you want right now. Invariably, they will have different beliefs from those who want the same result and who are not creating it. They will also be doing things differently and in greater volumes. You can only have what they have when you make the changes you need to make to have it.

If there is a gap between what you want and what you have, what do you need to change to close it?
