‘Trump Baby’ Gets Approved By London Mayor To Fly Over US President At His Visit

After a little disagreement with London authorities over what would qualify as a legal protest, a group of activists have finally been given the green light by the city’s mayor to fly a 20-foot ‘Trump Baby’ above the Parliament Square during US President Trump’s visit on 13 July.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has approved for an orange blond blimp with a hairy chest, tiny hands, and diapers, to take flight in the city after more than 10,000 people signed a petition and crowdfunders raised over £20,000 (US$26,445) to implement the movement. The campaign’s original budget was just £5,000 (US$6,645).

A spokesperson of the Mayor’s office said, “The Mayor supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms. His city operations team have met with the organizers and have given them permission to use Parliament Square Garden as a grounding point for the blimp.”

‘Trump Baby’ will make its appearance for two hours between 9:30am and 11:30am on 13 July, coinciding with the ‘Stop Trump’ march. This means the President will be greeted with a protest at every point of his visit.

To keep this demonstration under control, authorities have made it mandatory for the balloon to be fastened to the ground and for it to fly no higher than 30 meters (98 feet).

The campaign’s leader, Leo Murray, told Sky UK that despite the initial clash with the Mayor’s office, “a huge groundswell of public support” helped to implement it. “[I]t looks like City Hall has rediscovered its sense of humor. ‘Trump Baby’ will fly!”

Since the plan’s goal has been considerably outdone, the ‘Trump Baby’ team has promised to keep the crowdsourcing project alive in order to have the blimp “follow little Donald” during his visits in any country “unfortunate” enough to receive his presence.

“[However,] please note that we won’t have time to start organising ‘Trump Baby’s world tour until his UK debut is out of the way.”
