Louis Vuitton Embraces The Bulky ‘Dad Shoe’ Trend In Latest Virgil Abloh Design

Last month, Louis Vuitton’s new artistic director Virgil Abloh shared early sketches of one of his first sneakers for the fashion house.
Now, you’ll have a look at yet another iteration of an upcoming silhouette designed under the direction of Abloh, thanks to Imed Soussi, a member of Louis Vuitton’s PR team.
While the drawings shown by Abloh earlier revealed a streamlined, “classic… not trendy” design, this model is bolder and chunkier, and is an extension of the “dad shoe aesthetic” by the likes of Balenciaga and Vetements.
Per reports, this clunky skate shoe is dubbed ‘ZigZag’, and comes in two colorways: a metallic silver version with blue gradients and a more brutalist black-and-blue rendition.
Both pairs arrive with a radical wavy lacing system, as well as large cushioned tongues with rubberized LV branding.
It’s unclear when this silhouette will hit stores, though it’s likely that it’ll be unveiled at the fashion house’s next showcase under Abloh in Fall 2018.
