It’s a sad day for fans of England’s football team following The Three Lions’ loss to Croatia on 11 July in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.

Croatia beat England 2-1 to proceed to the finals against France on 15 July, Sunday. Prior to the results, many believed the trophy was “coming home.” This not only includes fans supporting England, but also numerous renowned brands.

For instance, British Airways had designed a special boarding pass that declared England the 2018 World Cup champions, while Virgin Trains embellished one of its models with the now-famous “It’s coming home” tagline, and McDonald’s rearranged the letters in its name to cheer on the lads.

Sadly, these companies are now eating their words.
