Jim Carrey’s Bold Art Jabs At Trump’s ‘Would-Wouldn’t’ Gaffe From Putin Meeting

Unlike Jim Carrey’s previous Trump-related artworks that have hit back hard at the US President with their biting humor, the actor’s latest entry takes on a more somber note.

Trump recently made headlines after having “misspoken” during a press conference in Helsinki, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Despite evidence from US intelligence agencies that Russia had interfered in the 2016 US presidential election, Trump declared otherwise during the press conference through a “double negative” statement.

“My people came to me… they said they think it’s Russia. I have President Putin; he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be.” Trump said.

The remark drew much ire, following which Trump clarified, “I said the word ‘would’ instead of ‘wouldn’t’, the sentence should have been: ‘I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be Russia.’ Sort of a double-negative,” reports the BBC.

In addition to sparking brutal memes that leave you unsure whether to laugh or cry, Carrey took to illustrating the controversy in this bold yet solemn piece, with the words “would” and “wouldn’t” repeatedly plastered over the aforementioned presidents.
