NEVER Hire These Candidates – Info Sales

May 3, 2018

Beginning another phase of recruiting or simply want to increase your hiring success?

There are certain things that should be automatic red flags. If they pop up while you’re interviewing someone, it’s a telltale sign that you should probably steer clear from there.

Let’s take a look at a few warning signs.

1. Double-Check Accomplishments

Anybody can claim they’ve won this award or that achievement.

You want to ask the important question here: “How?”

If they can’t clearly define the steps they took to creating the results they’re highlighting on their resume, well, let’s just say it’s not a very reassuring sign!

2. Do They Have a Good Memory?

Here’s a piece of advice, never hire a seller with a poor memory.

At the very end of the interview, ask the candidate to summarize the conversation. They don’t have to recollect your every inhale and exhale, but they should be able to recall key points from the conversation. If they can’t, it tells you that either they have an extremely poor short-term memory, or they simply weren’t listening.

Either way, I think we can all agree it’s a red flag.

3. They Should Have Questions

A great candidate is always qualifying the company they’re interviewing for just as the company is qualifying them. They should have an interest in your company’s vision and brand, and a sign that they’re simply “looking for a job” is when they have no questions of their own to ask.

It’s standard for an interviewer to, generally out of courtesy, ask the interviewee if they have any questions. But, pay extremely close attention to the candidate’s answer – or lack of one!

When you’re hiring for new sellers, you have to be aware of what to look out for! This means both the good AND the bad. Click To Tweet
