For the past 15 years, people from across the ecosystem have gathered at RoboBusiness to learn about the latest technologies, make business deals, and catch up with their peers and partners. What were the hottest discussed at RoboBusiness 2018?

For those who were in Santa Clara, Calif., attending the event, or for those who couldn’t make it, this webcast is designed to help you.

In this webcast, Robotics Business Review editors Eugene Demaitre and Keith Shaw share their observations from this year’s conference. We spoke with several attendees, exhibitors, and presenters to get a sense of the robotics themes that interested them, as well as forecasts of the direction of the industry.

Highlights include the pre-conference workshop on big data, keynote addresses from robotics luminaries such as NVIDIA’s Deepu Talla, and the annual Pitchfire startup competition. We also met with investors, integrators, and end users from around the country and around the world.

We’ll also discuss robotics themes that emerged from our conference tracks on artificial intelligence, chief robotics officers (CROs) adopting automation, design and engineering, the supplier and tech forum, and the industry summit.

Demaitre and Shaw also moderated some panel discussions on the characteristics of a robotics champion, international robotics themes, AI applications, and predictive maintenance.

Vertical markets covered at RoboBusiness include manufacturing, supply chain, and healthcare, while popular acronyms in the air included AI, ROI (return on investment), and IIoT (the Industrial Internet of Things).

On the Expo Hall floor, attendees could see innovative devices such as ULC Robotics’ VTOL-capable drone, join networking roundtables, and see the editors conduct interviews in the RBR Studio. (Slides and videos from RoboBusiness 2018 will be posted soon.)

When can you expect mobile manipulation, wide deployment of machine learning in industrial automation, or robotics to change the nature of work? What can we learn from failed projects and startups? These are just some of the robotics themes and from our conversations at RoboBusiness 2018.
