Identifying all your organization’s target audiences is a key step during your communication planning. Target audiences are part of your PR plan’s inputs. You can use this tool for communication, marketing, and PR strategies because it helps identify what specific audiences need to improve your company’s communication methods.
Once you download Axia Public Relations’ target audiences analysis template, we recommend asking internal departments (such as sales, marketing, operations, etc.) which audiences are important to include. Also, add your organization’s buyer personas to the audience template.
After you have a list of your organization’s target audiences, consider what mediums PR pros use to communicate and plan which method would fit each audience best. If there are gaps where you’re not sure of an audience’s current attitude, consider research such as a content analysis, survey, or focus group, so you’re basing your planning efforts on factual data.
Here’s a list of audience examples to help you get started:
- Society, community
- Business associations
- Action groups
