It offers five percent cash back on up to $1,500 spent each quarter at featured merchants and merchant categories, and one percent cash back elsewhere. For the holiday season this year, (October – December) the featured merchants are Walmart and select department stores.

Also, new applicants can receive a $150 bonus after spending $500 within three months of account opening. New accounts also receive 15 months of 0 percent APR financing on new purchases and balance transfers, with a five percent balance transfer fee.

There’s no annual fee for this card, but it does have a three percent foreign transaction fee.

As with the Chase Freedom®, the Discover it® Cash Back offers you five percent cash back on up to $1,500 spent each quarter on eligible purchases, and unlimited one percent cash back elsewhere. In the fourth quarter of 2018 (October – December) you get 5 percent back on your purchases from both Amazon.com wholesale clubs. And after one year, Discover will automatically match the cash back that you’ve earned in your first year as a card member. You do need to activate the bonus cashback quarterly.

The Discover it® Cash Back includes benefits such as free security alerts when a new account is opened in your name, or if your Social Security number is found on a risky website.
