Student Journey: Road to Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
Hello my Linux Academy family. I hope you all are happy and healthy and are accomplishing your goals and making the best moves for you and yours. We all have struggled in life; obviously, we are human but along with the trials comes the triumphs. Balancing it all is not always easy. I have agreed to blog weekly about my challenges, the trials and the triumphs as I prepare for my certifications that will lead me to the Red Hat RHCA (Red Hat Certified Architect) designation. Some of you will know but others may not, that in order to achieve this designation, you have to take seven exams (all by Red Hat, of course) to obtain this.
Staying Accountable
My name is Taz and I currently work as a Sr. Linux Systems Engineer with a large company in my area and I have a family and pets so taking time to prepare for these certification exams, have not been easy and never will be, but I have found that if I have everything in writing, it keeps me on track and more importantly, I have the support of my family, pets and even my supervisor at work. The more people that know about your purpose, the more they will keep you accountable and the less likely you will fail. When I say I have everything in writing, I mean, have the goals that I want to obtain are written down. I have all my goals written down on one of my three whiteboards in my office.
Another way I have it written down, is that I have the exam already scheduled as well as I have documented my calendar with blocks of time I will be committing to studying/preparing for my exams. One of the best ways I have it in writing, if that I use Linux Academy to keep me accountable because I make sure to use the course scheduler function; which allows me to set the number of hours and days I will study. I will get an email reminding me of the time I have committed to studying.
Red Hat Exam Preparation
I am currently preparing for the EX407 exam, The Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Ansible Automation using Linux Academy’s course, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation prep course. I believe this prep course is very close to what I must know and practice to pass the EX407. All Red Hat’s exams are performance-based, which means they’re “practical” exams – you are given a workstation with virtual machines running and are asked to perform certain tasks. In case of the Ansible exam, this means mostly writing playbooks, but also running ad-hoc commands and configuring Ansible itself.
Well that’s a little bit about me. In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my journey with all of you as I prepare to master this Red Hat Certification with the ultimate goal of being a Red Hat Certified Architect! I hope you’ll follow along.. Wish me luck
