The Walking Dead Final Season Could Be Saved | Gaming News

Last week, Telltale Games shocked the gaming community after the studio laid off the majority of its staff, as it prepares to eventually shut down. Not long after the announcement, people wondered what would happen to current Telltale games, especially The Dead: , as it approaches the end of the series with one out of four episodes released. Several outlets reported that the game will be canceled indefinitely but Telltale’s latest update may just save the game and allow players to say goodbye to Clementine properly.

Currently, only the game’s second episode is confirmed to release tomorrow, with the status of episodes 3 and 4 unknown. However, in a tweet published by Telltale earlier this evening, the studio revealed that after the initial announcement last week, several “potential partners” expressed their interest in helping Telltale Games bring The Walking Dead to completion. Telltale did not reveal the identity of these partners but promised to give answers soon.

“Multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion,” Telltale revealed on Twitter. “While we can’t make any promises today, we are actively working towards a solution that will allow episodes three and four to be completed and released in some form.”

In light of the studio’s sudden closure, Melissa Hutchison, who provided the voice work for the character Clementine, shared her disappointment on Twitter and posted a moving message thanking the talented people behind the game, and the heartfelt support of fans worldwide. “I do want you to know that I have seen and read all of the messages of love sent out to me, and the beautiful souls of TTG’s,” Hutchison said on Twitter. “These messages are proof that there is ALWAYS light in the darkest of days. So thank you.”

While the future of The Walking Dead game still remains to be unclear, it is a relief to know that Telltale and several other companies are working hard to bring proper closure to a beloved franchise. Yesterday, Netflix also showed support for Telltale’s upcoming game adaptation of the series Stranger Things, and revealed in a statement that it is “in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.”

The first episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season is available now on all platforms with the second episode releasing tomorrow.
