BlizzCon 2018 Schedule Released, Could Hint at Big Things for Diablo | Gaming News
The Diablo panel is being held on Friday, Nov. 2.
On the official BlizzCon 2018 schedule, Diablo: What’s Next is slotted to be the first panel to take place on the main “Mythic” stage starting Friday, Nov. 2 at 12:30 PT. The description of the panel reads: “Join the Diablo team as they discuss of what’s in store for the heroes of Sanctuary.”
Interestingly, this Diablo panel will be followed by What’s Next panels for Overwatch, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft and Heroes of the Storm. A Star Craft II: What’s Next panel is also set for the following day. Each What’s Next panel is scheduled to last for 45 minutes.
As noted by Polygon, this first “What’s Next” panel has historically expanded upon major announcements that happen just prior to the panel during BlizzCon’s opening ceremony keynote. Last year, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth was announced during the opening ceremony and was the focus of a deep dive during the What’s Next panel. Similarly in 2016, Hearthstone’s Mean Streets of Gadgetzan expansion was explored during this important panel as well.
It’s not clear exactly what Blizzard will be announcing for the Diablo series, but we do know it has multiple Diablo projects in the works after Diablo associate community manager Brandy Carmel said: “The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works. Some of them are going to take longer than others, but we may have some things to show you later this year.”
Rumblings of new Diablo content surfaced earlier this year when a job listing for a dungeon artist at Blizzard appeared, stating it is looking for someone who is “passionate about working on the dark gothic world of Diablo, making great games, killing millions of monsters and getting loot!”
Whether these bits of news point at a Diablo IV reveal or something else entirely, it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out. BlizzCon 2018 takes place Nov. 2 and 3 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
For more Diablo news, Diablo III: Eternal Collection will be released for the Nintendo Switch on the first day of BlizzCon 2018, Nov. 2, and comes with exclusive Nintendo-themed items, including Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armor set, a Tri-Force portrait frame, a chicken pet, and Echoes of the Mask cosmetic wings.
