In its latest strategic move, acquires-hires the fellow Indonesian startup’s talents to join its team

 


It’s been reported that talents from , an Indonesian startup that lets people sell and buy online, now belong to Bukalapak, the online store platform. As reported by DailySocial, ’s founder Fransiska Hadiwidjana is now Bukalapak’s Head of Business.

As for Prelo, there is no news yet on whether it will continue operation after this acquihire. The platform itself is still actively accessible until now.

“We didn’t acquire Prelo, we just acquired the talents behind the company to join us in Bukalapak. We couldn’t comment any further on our future strategy for now,” said Chief Strategy Officer of Bukalapak Teddy Oetomo.

In the past, Bukalapak has already done the similar talent acquisition with this one. M. Fajrin Rasyid, the company’s Co-Founder and President confirmed that Bukalapak had acquired some software houses by hiring the talents only.

With a close market segment on the C2C , it’s strategic for Bukalapak to acquihire Bandung-based Prelo, a that ensures the items they sell aren’t fake by only accepting secondhand stuffs.

This year, Bukalapak also just opened a new R&D center in Bandung, Indonesia, the city where Prelo is based.
